Toyosi Art
An identity and digital presence built for an artist working at the intersection of heritage and contemporary expression.
Art that transcends medium demands identity that does the same
Toyosi Art needed a visual identity capable of reflecting the depth and specificity of her practice, drawing on adinkra and nsibidi symbol systems to build a personal visual language rooted in cultural heritage. The challenge was to translate that artistic sensibility into a brand system and website that felt gallery-standard without losing warmth or individuality.
The brief called for a minimal, considered aesthetic: a bespoke logo that honoured the symbolic tradition underpinning the work, a restrained colour palette drawn from gallery environments, and a website that presented artworks with the same clarity and reverence they deserve in a physical space.
From philosophy to pixels
A visual language built on heritage and restraint
The identity draws on adinkra and nsibidi symbol systems, two West African visual traditions, as the structural foundation for the logo mark. The palette is deliberately muted and gallery-inspired, pairing deep charcoal and dusty teal with soft off-white tones that let the artworks lead. The typography system pairs an editorial serif with a clean, minimal sans-serif for versatility across digital and print contexts.
Brand identity & website
Branxl understood exactly what I was trying to communicate through my work. The identity they created felt authentic from the first concept and the website makes every piece feel gallery-ready.
